# Add from URL

> Paste a homepage URL to draft a brand kit

# Add from URL

**From URL** (in the **Add Brand** dialog) is the fastest way to draft a brand kit when you already have a public website. Brandblox fetches the page’s HTML, pulls likely name, favicon, colours, and fonts, runs a one-shot **Brandblox AI refine** (platform-billed Workers AI), seeds starter buttons, then opens the brand editor so you can review and polish before you rely on the kit.

Use this when onboarding a client or product brand for the first time. Always treat the draft as a starting point — especially on JS-heavy sites that return thin colour or font data. Prefer [Add Manually](/brands/add-manually) when you do not have a fetchable site yet.

## Steps

1. Open **Brands** → **Add Brand**.
2. Choose the **From URL** tab.
3. Paste a homepage URL (**https** recommended; only `http` / `https` are accepted).
4. Submit — Brandblox fetches public HTML, refines the draft with Brandblox AI by default, and opens the brand editor.

AI refine is always on for this path (no checkbox). If refine fails, Brandblox still creates a draft from the HTML extract and may show a soft note — creation is not blocked.

## What gets extracted

| Voice hints | AI refine may seed traits / voice dimensions when confident |
| Buttons | Default primary + outline styles from the top colours |

Walk the editor tabs in the order that matches how you work:

2. [Colours](/brands/colours) and [Fonts](/brands/fonts) — keep, rename, or replace seeded values
3. [Buttons](/brands/buttons), [Typography](/brands/typography), [Voice](/brands/voice), [Assets](/brands/assets) — fill what your team needs next

## Safety & limits

* Private, localhost, link-local, and cloud **metadata** addresses are blocked (SSRF protection).
* Fetches time out and cap response size; redirects are validated hop-by-hop.
* **JS-heavy / SPA** sites may return thin colour or font data — polish in the editor.
* Non-HTML or blocked hosts fail with a clear error.
* AI refine does not replace review — always check Details, Colours, Fonts, and Voice.
